A major resurfacing project for Highway 97 will get underway this spring, now that the contract for this work has been awarded.
“Resurfacing of Highway 97 near Monte Creek and Barnhartvale Road will begin soon, with the project now awarded to Okanagan Aggregates, the successful bidder,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “Motorists will see a smoother road surface and safer conditions along Highway 97 in time for summer.”
Four kilometres of paving will take place on Monte Creek Hill from the brake check to the Trans-Canada Highway.
In addition, a 17-kilometre section of Barnhartvale Road will be resurfaced between the City of Kamloops boundary and Highway 97.
Motorists should anticipate delays while work takes place and are advised to check DriveBC for the latest updates.
Over the next three years, the ministry and its partners are investing over $4.6 billion in priority transportation investments as part of BC on the Move, the Province’s 10-year transportation plan.
