Minister of Children and Family Development Katrine Conroy and Minister of State for Child Care Katrina Chen released the following statement on the Atkinson Centre’s Early Childhood Education Report 2017:
“The Atkinson Centre’s report shows what too many parents already know – that the child-care crisis in B.C. has been getting worse for years.
“That’s why we are taking immediate action, with a new, comprehensive child-care strategy that focuses on affordability, accessibility and quality.
“The first three years of our plan will be unveiled as part of Budget 2018. These investments will take us a lot closer to addressing issues such as the need for greater investments in early years funding and the need for inclusive care.
“Transformation will take time. We won’t be able to deliver a new universal child-care plan overnight – but we’re confident there will be a marked improvement by the time the Atkinson Centre issues their next report.”
