The Province is reopening the Horsefly River to angling from Quesnel Lake to the Woodjam Bridge, after a temporary closure earlier this month that aimed to protect rainbow trout from health risks associated with rising water temperatures.

The closure will be lifted as of Friday, Aug. 31, 2018.

Cooling air temperatures have resulted in water temperatures dropping below 18 C. This is an acceptable level to allow a catch-and-release fishery.

Reopening of the river when water temperatures drop below 18 C is consistent with the Horsefly River Angling Management Plan, which was developed via a public consultation process.
