Program makes farm land matches around the province

The following land matches have been completed throughout the province since the B.C. Land Matching Program (BCLMP) was launched as a pilot in Metro Vancouver/Fraser Valley in 2016 by Young Agrarians, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture.


  • Eight matches were finalized on 12.4 hectares (30.7 acres) of land:
    • Eight in Metro Vancouver/Fraser Valley: Langley, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack, Ladner and Surrey (four matches)


  • 21 matches were finalized on 26.7 hectares (66 acres) of land:
    • 10 in Metro Vancouver: Surrey (three matches), Langley, Aldergrove, Abbotsford, Burnaby (two matches) and Richmond
    • Six on Vancouver Island: Saanich, Victoria, Metchosin, Cobble Hill, Yellow Point and Duncan
    • One in the Columbia Basin: Creston
    • Four in the Okanagan: West Kelowna, Penticton/Naramata, Kelowna and Summerland


  • 34 matches were finalized on 260.9 hectares (644.7 acres) of land:
    • Eight in Metro Vancouver: Surrey (four matches), Ladner, Maple Ridge and Squamish (two matches)
    • Nine on Vancouver Island: Duncan (two matches), Cobble Hill, Brentwood Bay, Cowichan Bay, North Cowichan, Central Saanich, North Saanich and Courtenay
    • Five in the Columbia Basin: Beasley, Harrop, Revelstoke and Lister (two matches)
    • Nine in the Okanagan: Summerland, Armstrong, Kelowna (three matches), West Kelowna, Salmon Arm, Vernon and Lake Country
    • Three in Central/North: McLeese Lake, Hazelton and Quesnel


  •  18 matches were finalized on 1,583 hectares (3,911.6 acres) of land:
    • Nine on Vancouver Island: Metchosin, Saanich (two matches), Central Saanich, Yellow Point, Cobble Hill, Nanaimo, Somenos and Gabriola Island
    • Eight in the Okanagan: Armstrong, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Barnhartvale, Naramata, Kaledon, Salmon Arm and Vernon
    • One in Central/North: Williams Lake
