PPE Update – Thursday, March 4, 2021

To recap B.C.’s cumulative totals, from March 2020 to Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, the following personal protective equipment (PPE) has arrived in B.C.:

  • Just over 8.5 million N95 or equivalent respirators
  • Just over 176 million surgical or procedure masks
  • Just over 3.6 million pieces of eye protection, including goggles and face shields
  • Just over 367 million pairs of gloves
  • Almost 23 million gowns

Over the last week, the following PPE has arrived in B.C.:

  • 2,020 N95 or equivalent respirators
  • 4,638,000 surgical or procedure masks
  • 112,960 pieces of eye protection, including goggles and face shields
  • 12,624,750 pairs of gloves
  • 285,124 gowns

B.C. continues to source and test PPE to make sure products meet or exceed safety requirements before use in the health-care system. It is working to pursue any and all credible leads for safe and effective products for the health system.
