How to book an appointment for your COVID-19, influenza vaccines

Health Canada approved the Moderna Spikevax vaccine on Sept. 12, 2023, and the Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty Omicron XBB.1.5. vaccine on Sept. 28, 2023. Both are mRNA vaccines that target the XBB1.5 strain. About 101,550 doses of Moderna arrived in B.C. this week. Government expects 126,720 doses of Pfizer to be delivered the week of Nov. 20, 2023.

There are currently just over one million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the province. By the middle of December, B.C. will have received all its doses of COVID-19 vaccine. All doses of influenza vaccine have arrived. The Province has ordered 2.8 million COVID-19 vaccines and 2.3 million influenza vaccines for the 2023-24 respiratory season.

Invitations have gone out to 4.4 million people registered through the Get Vaccinated system, and more than 1.1 million have received a reminder.

There are four ways to get the COVID-19 and influenza vaccines:

  1. Book an appointment at a health authority clinic or pharmacy through the provincial Get Vaccinated system: www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca.
  2. Book an appointment by calling the provincial call centre (toll-free): 1 833 838-2323.
  3. Book an appointment with a primary health-care provider’s office if they are providing vaccine appointments.
  4. Visit a pharmacy or health-authority clinic offering walk-in appointments.
