More details on Giving Voice

Giving Voice is a funding initiative delivered by the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation on behalf of the Minister’s Advisory Council on Indigenous Women (MACIW).

For 2024-25, $1 million has been allocated to 37 First Nations governments, Métis chartered communities, Indigenous non-profits and Indigenous friendship centres for community-based events that give voice to stopping violence against Indigenous women and girls.

Giving Voice funding recipients on Vancouver Island:

  • Ahousaht First Nation (Ahousaht) – $30,000
  • Cowichan Valley Métis Nation (Koksilah) – $28,700
  • Homalco Indian Band (Campbell River) – $23,239
  • Klahoose First Nation (Squirrel Cover) – $30,000
  • Kyuquot Checleseht First Nations (Campbell River) – $25,000
  • Nanoose First Nation (Lantzville) – $19,320
  • Peers Victoria Resources Society (Esquimalt) – $29,301
  • Tillicum Lelum Aboriginal Friendship Centre (Nanaimo) – $24,420
