Building quicker
Construction on the new addition at Westview Elementary started in summer 2025 and was completed in February 2026. With the permanent addition open, this project is one of many examples of how innovative solutions are helping to build schools more quickly, delivering the classrooms students need and supporting growing communities.
Benefiting students today
- The four-classroom addition at Westview Elementary adds 100 new seats for students.
- Built using a mass-timber panelised system, the new addition provides students with a more sustainable and energy-efficient environment to learn.

“These new classrooms give students and their educators the room to do their best work,” said Lisa Beare, Minister of Education and Child Care. “More spaces mean more opportunities for learners to engage, explore and succeed. When we invest in schools, we invest in the future of every student and the communities that support them.”
Supporting North Vancouver students

“These new classrooms at Westview Elementary provide students and educators with beautiful, modern spaces that support learning, creativity and connection,” said Antje Wilson, chair, North Vancouver Board of Education. “The addition responds to the needs of the growing community, while demonstrating innovative approaches to building schools more quickly and sustainably.”
Creating more student spaces across B.C.
