British Columbia packs a powerful punch with its internationally acclaimed aerospace cluster.
With many emerging companies contributing to British Columbia’s success, none stand out more than its homegrown MDA. Headquartered in Richmond B.C., this global communications and information company leads the world in communications satellites, pollution and oil spill monitoring and tracking and supporting advanced robotics missions and solutions for space.
In fact, just this week MDA announced it is continuing to support the Mobile Servicing System on the International Space Station (ISS). Part of the Mobile Servicing System is the Canadarm2, one of MDA’s successes. It is a remote-controlled mechanical arm that assembled the ISS while in space, and is routinely used to move supplies, equipment and even astronauts.
Employing more than 4,800 people with 11 locations within Canada, the US and internationally, this company continues to test the limits, with no signs of slowing down.
