In B.C., we are home to 34 First Nations mother languages which contain 61 dialects. BC First Nations mother languages represent sixty percent of the aboriginal languages spoken in Canada.

Organizations such as the First Peoples’ Cultural Council and First Voices Canada are dedicated to not only preserving but reviving the original languages of the First Nations people.
