In efforts to protect critical moose habitat and to restore moose populations in the Murphy Watershed near Lac La Hache, the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is proposing an access management plan, which includes blocking and deactivating select roads in the watershed.

The Province is making it simpler for rural fire departments to divert, use and store water for non-emergency firefighting activities.

Recreation users and residents are advised that the Green Lake-Nolan Lake Forest Service Road in the 100 Mile House Forest District has been closed indefinitely due to safety concerns.

Smoke may be visible north of Canim Lake, near 100 Mile House, due to large-scale industrial burning that’s currently underway to clear out wood debris and reduce wildfire risks in the area.

The public is advised that 83 Mile (9237.01 Road) and 83 Mile West (9237.02 Road) Forest Service roads near 100 Mile House will be discontinued and permanently closed beginning Aug. 22, 2016, due to ongoing maintenance issues and environmental concerns.

The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations are planning to conduct an ecosystem restoration burn in the Churn Creek Protected Area between March 15 and April 29, weather permitting. 

British Columbians are invited to comment on proposed amendments to the boundaries of about 375 existing old growth management areas within the 100 Mile House Natural Resource District.
