Students in the Burnaby School District will benefit from $1.7 million in provincial funding for a school upgrade project and classroom supplies, MLA Richard T. Lee announced on behalf of Education Minister Mike Bernier.

Construction is well underway on the seismic upgrade and partial replacement of École Alpha Secondary school.

The world is changing and B.C. students need to be ready to adapt to the careers of tomorrow. Students in the Burnaby School District will be prepared thanks to $22,500 in provincial funding awarded to the district, helping to connect kids with opportunities in skilled trades and tech training. 

International students studying in B.C. are enriching the province’s classrooms, homes and communities while they benefit from a world class education system. 

Students, teachers and staff at Alpha Secondary school in the Burnaby school district will benefit from $130,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.  

Families in the Burnaby school district will benefit from improved transportation services, thanks to $24,841 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

The Province, the Burnaby school district, Simon Fraser University (SFU) Childcare Society and SFU Community Trust are tackling community and student enrolment growth with $3.9 million to expand University Highlands Elementary school.

A seismically safer and upgraded school is one step closer with the start of construction at Burnaby’s École Alpha Secondary school.
