The Province is providing $95,000 so 10 Aboriginal students in the Campbell River-area can learn the skills needed for employment in the British Columbia road building and forestry machinery sector.

The British Columbia government and North Island College (NIC) have partnered on a new $600,000 labour-market project that will boost aquaculture in B.C. and help residents become aquaculture technicians in the future.

Skilled trades students in the Campbell River School District will benefit from a three-year, $15-million investment by the B.C. government to support youth-trades programs with the purchase of new trades-training equipment.

Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour announced that the government is investing more than $280,000 to support marketing by provincial tourism sectors.

Premier Christy Clark announced a $13.5-million investment in a new trades training facility at North Island College that will help prepare students for in-demand jobs in the skilled trades.

Up to 44 British Columbians in the Campbell River and Duncan areas are receiving the training they need for jobs in their communities, thanks to the federal/provincial partnership under the Canada-B.C. Job Fund Agreement.

Students in the Campbell River School District are connecting with skills and technology training development thanks to a $17,500 grant to the district from the Province’s Shoulder Tappers Program.
