Upgrades to the 13th Street and Alaska Avenue intersection in Dawson Creek are now complete, making driving safer and easier for motorists and improving the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.

A picnic in the park in Rolla will be more enjoyable, following the volunteer efforts of Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure staff and employees at Caribou Road Services.

Local contractor Brocor Construction Ltd. has been awarded an $8.5-million contract for the Braden Road Phase 3 project. This will complete the reconstruction of the entire length of Braden Road between Highway 97 North and Highway 97 South.

A contract to provide additional dust suppression and base stabilization to South Peace area roads has been awarded to Yellowhead Road and Bridge.

Work is underway to restore access on Highway 97 between Chetwynd and Mackenzie Junction and other priority routes throughout the Peace Region, following major floods and washouts caused by a one-in-40-year rainfall event.

The Province is investing over $54 million in South Peace highways and roads in 2011-12, creating jobs for local workers and improving the condition and safety of local roads for South Peace families.

A $2.6-million contract has been awarded to Hoban Equipment of Salmon Arm to upgrade key sections of three side roads in the Tate Creek area.
