BC Hydro’s Site C project reached a milestone today as the turbines and generators contractor mobilized to the construction site.

Students in the Peace River North School District will benefit from over $2.6 million in provincial funding for school upgrade projects, classroom supplies and a new school bus, Education Minister Mike Bernier announced.

Construction has officially started on the new $26.6-million Margaret “Ma” Murray Community school, benefiting Fort St. John students, teachers and the community for years to come.

The B.C. government has distributed $142,670 in compensation for municipal property taxes to the City of Fort St. John.

Students, teachers and staff at North Peace Secondary school in the Peace River North school district will benefit from $656,800 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.          

Eight BCSARA teams in northern British Columbia will receive $363,000 this year as part of the Province’s $10 million in one-time funding commitments to the BC Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA) to help bolster training, administrative support and equipment renewals.

Construction of the Site C project in northeast British Columbia reached its one-year anniversary last week. Significant construction progress has been made over the past year and the project is on track for schedule, scope and budget.
