Families at the Kamloops Child Development Centre are now paying no more than $200 a month per child as part of the B.C. government’s universal child care prototype project.

In response to the number of people experiencing homelessness in the area, the Province is working with the City of Kamloops to open 55 temporary modular homes while construction continues on additional permanent supportive housing.

Community-based adult literacy programs in Kamloops and the surrounding area are giving people the reading, writing, math and computer skills needed to manage personal finances, join in community activities and help their children with their homework.

The Government of British Columbia is opening additional shelter beds in Kamloops to make sure people in need have access to safe and secure housing as the cooler weather arrives.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and winter conditions when travelling on sections of Highway 1 as heavy snowfall has hit the region.
