In conjunction with Seniors' Week in B.C., Health Minister Terry Lake announced another $4 million in funding to United Way of the Lower Mainland for the continued operation of the Better at Home program.

Another 41 Wildfire Management Branch personnel, including two unit crews and one agency representative, are being deployed to Alberta to assist with that province’s wildfire situation.

The Wildfire Management Branch is sending 88 personnel and two fixed-wing aircraft to Alberta to aid in fire suppression efforts, Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Minister Steve Thomson announced.

The Province is providing $150,000 to support a neighbourhood kitchen that will provide nutritious meals and be a forum for seniors to showcase their wealth of knowledge in preparing food.

The Wildfire Management Branch has issued a road restriction order for forest service roads near the Raft River wildfire, which is burning about 20 kilometres northeast of Clearwater. The restrictions will take effect at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

Effective at noon on Friday, May 15, 2015, the size of open fires will be restricted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect the public.
