A new accelerated program at Coast Mountain College will allow aspiring early childhood educators (ECEs) to train closer to home at no cost while meeting community needs.

People in northern B.C. now have more recreational and cultural opportunities, as well as improved infrastructure and family supports, due to several significant investments made through the Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund (NKDF).

The remote First Nations community of Klemtu is transitioning from diesel to clean electricity under the Province’s CleanBC plan and creating local jobs during construction.

A $248,525 study funded by the British Columbia government, in partnership with the Kitamaat Valley Education Society, will create a strategy for employers to attract and retain workers in and around Kitimat, Terrace and Smithers.  

Enhancing the skills of Aboriginal people to co-ordinate venture development in their traditional territories leading to job creation and greater prosperity. That’s the primary focus of a new skills training course designed for First Nations along B.C.’s coastal northwest.

The Province will fund a $650,000 scientific study to help inform regulatory and policy development for future industrial activity in the Kitimat area.
