The N’Quatqua Band Council and the First Nations’ Emergency Services Society of B.C. will be conducting a series of prescribed burns near D’Arcy, about 27 kilometres northeast of Pemberton, between April 18 and May 20, 2016.

Two people are helping the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce Walk on the Wildside (WWS) to promote business growth in the area, thanks to nearly $23,000 in provincial funding.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations has instituted a fuels management treatment project in the Birkenhead Lake area of the Pemberton Fire Zone.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, the area restriction put in place by wildfire officials for the Boulder Creek wildfire will be rescinded, due to reduced fire activity.

Effective at noon on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, all open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, the area restriction currently in place for the Elaho Valley wildfire will be rescinded, due to reduced fire activity.

Adult literacy programs in 75 communities throughout the province will receive $2.4 million in 2015-16 to provide more British Columbians with the literacy skills they need to take part in the growing economy.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will once again be permitted in all forest districts within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdictional area, except parts of the South Island Forest District.

Effective at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, the area restriction order currently in place for the Wood Lake wildfire will be rescinded due to reduced fire activity.
