Resurfacing work in two areas on Vancouver Island is now complete with construction wrapped up along Highway 4 near Tofino and Hector Road in Port Alberni.

The Dry Creek Improvement Project in Port Alberni is complete, thanks to over $2.7 million in funding split equally between the Government of Canada’s Building Canada Fund – Communities Component, the Province, and the City of Port Alberni.

The Province and Emergency Management BC are planning an earthquake and tsunami response exercise for June 7-10, 2016, in Port Alberni called Exercise Coastal Response.

A new web camera at Sutton Pass on Highway 4 is now live on the Province's DriveBC website, providing a real-time view of highway conditions in the area and helping motorists plan a safe journey.

Two aging timber bridges on Highway 4 west of Port Alberni will be replaced with wider concrete structures, further improving safety along this important and scenic route to the west coast of Vancouver Island.
