Recreational users are advised that the Bobtail Lake Recreation Site will be temporarily closed due to site reconstruction and gravel hauling between Monday, Aug. 8 and Monday, Aug. 15, 2011.

The Prince George Fire Centre responded to 13 new fire starts yesterday, all lightning-caused.

The Prince George Fire Centre has responded to eight new fire starts in the past week, over half caused by lightning.

With prolonged dry, warm weather north of Fort St. John and in the Fort Nelson area, the wildfire risk continues to increase into the weekend as higher temperatures and lower humidity contribute to dryer forest fuels.

Over the past week the Prince George Fire Centre has responded to seven new forest fires all caused by human activity. Six of these fires have been extinguished and the seventh is being patrolled to ensure it does not flare up again. All fires were human caused, therefore all were preventable.
