Motorists should expect delays on the Trans-Canada Highway on Wednesday, May 10 to allow for the installation of Remote Avalanche Control Systems at Three Valley Gap.

Improvements along the Trans-Canada Highway to reduce delays and increase safety continue in areas near Revelstoke. Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Todd Stone provided updates on projects that include avalanche control and the implementation of speed reading technology.

Drivers can expect the following delays on the TransCanada Highway, 19 kilometres west of Revelstoke, as crews work to install the Remote Avalanche Control Systems.

Drivers are advised that Highway 1 near Three Valley Gap 19 kilometres west of Revelstoke will be closed in both directions on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, to facilitate the safe installation of the first four Remote Avalanche Control systems.

Several repaving projects, including the resurfacing of over 60 kilometres of Highway 23N, will soon be underway in the Revelstoke area, bringing smoother roads and a more comfortable ride for local motorists, cyclists, tourists and industry.

David Wilks, Member of Parliament for Kootenay – Columbia was joined by Greg Kyllo, British Columbia Member of the Legislative Assembly for Shuswap, to jointly announce funding for the upgrade and expansion of Highway 1 near Revelstoke that will increase safety for all drivers and improve the efficiency of this important regional and trans-provincial route.
