A new, seismically safe facility is on the way for children and families benefiting from the Children’s Development Centre in Cordova Bay, along with additional support services.

The second and final construction contract for the McKenzie interchange project is 50% complete, with current work focusing on building the overpass that will allow Highway 1 traffic to travel through the intersection without stopping.

Drivers are advised that the southbound left turn onto Carey Road, along Douglas Street/Highway 1, will be permanently closed as of June 10, 2018.

Beginning this weekend, drivers are advised that the northbound lanes on Highway 1 will begin to detour onto the newly constructed ramps for the future interchange.

Drivers are advised to watch for temporary shifts in the travelling lanes on Highway 1, as work continues on the McKenzie interchange over the long weekend.

Cyclists and pedestrians are advised of a temporary detour along the Galloping Goose Trail, between Grange Road and Belgrave Road, over the weekend of March 17–18, 2018, as part of ongoing work for the McKenzie interchange project.
