The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure reminds travellers about increased traffic on B.C. highways during the next couple of weeks.

The northbound bus priority lane is now open from Tolmie Avenue to the Burnside Bridges, saving commuters at least 10 minutes from Fisgard Street to Tillicum Road during peak travel times.

Enhanced chain-up regulations are now in place for commercial vehicle operators, which will mean safer B.C. highways and improved vehicle performance during winter conditions.

Legislation introduced Nov. 19, 2018, by the provincial government will allow ride-hailing companies to enter the B.C. market next year, while putting priority on safety for passengers.

The British Columbia government is lowering speed limits on 15 sections of highway in the province to keep people safer and reduce the chance of speed-related collisions.

When Greyhound ends its bus service on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, 83% of its routes will be covered by other private operators by year’s end, meaning British Columbians will still be able to travel safely, affordably and reliably through most of the province.
