The Government of British Columbia is proposing to make temporary provisions for water use in mineral exploration and small-scale placer mining operations a permanent part of the Water Sustainability Act regulations, and has released an intentions paper for public comment.

George Heyman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, and Michelle Mungall, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, have decided to issue an environmental assessment (EA) certificate to IDM Mining Ltd. (IDM) for the Red Mountain Underground Gold Project (Red Mountain).

Proposed changes to the Organic Matter Recycling Regulation will support the processing of organic waste, which will reduce the burden on landfills, and give transparency and clarity to British Columbians who are affected by composting and land used for this purpose.
