With the return of more seasonal weather in recent days, BC Wildfire Service crews have made considerable headway in containing the two most-prominent wildfires within the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Effective at noon Pacific Time on Friday, June 8, 2018, Category 3 open burns will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, which includes the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District and the Selkirk Natural Resource District.

The provincial government has issued an order to make sure nests, dens, salt licks and other important wildlife habitat features (WHF) are protected when forestry and range activities are carried out.

The area restriction that had been established around the Allie Lake wildfire northwest of Kamloops has been rescinded.
