Communities throughout the province are getting help to replace old, smoky woodstoves with cleaner technologies, so people do not have to choose between warm homes and cleaner air.

Responding to urgent need in the community, the Government of B.C. is reopening the shelter at 599 Gower Point Rd., providing people experiencing homelessness with warm, safe beds right where they live and without having to travel to Sechelt, the nearest major city.

The 20 conservation officers sworn in last spring are now at work in various locations throughout the province.

Oyster farmers from British Columbia’s coastal communities are seeing increased opportunities and stability in the oyster industry, stemming from funding through the BC Oyster Recovery Fund.

The jobs and livelihoods of 1,500 British Columbia forestry workers are being secured by Paper Excellence Canada’s (PEC) acquisition of Catalyst Paper’s facilities in Crofton, Port Alberni and Powell River.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, the existing campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre will be expanded to include Haida Gwaii.

A stretch of Highway 101, between Powell River and Lund, will be widened and resurfaced to make this drive easier and safer for people travelling the corridor.
