The British Columbia government recognizes the vital role bees play in British Columbia’s food production and environment and is working to support and expand bee habitat and health throughout the province.

AgriService BC connects farmers, food processors and new entrants to agriculture, to the services, programs and information that the B.C. government offers to help them succeed.

The B.C. government is taking a three-pronged approach to building opportunities and sales for B.C. farmers, seafood producers and food processors, as well as those wanting to join these sectors.

The B.C. government is partnering with the BC Shellfish Growers Association (BCSGA), Vancouver Island University and the Hakai Institute to address issues of food supply security and climate change affecting the shellfish industry.

The Province is providing over $628,000 to support a two-year pilot project for the viticulture technician diploma program at Okanagan College, developed in partnership with the BC Wine Grape Council.

British Columbia agrifood and seafood producers exported more products than ever before in 2016, setting a new record for the fourth year in a row.

And they’re off! Local sporthorse breeder and rider and horse-training company, Dreamcatcher Meadows Sporthorse Breeding and Training Centre (DMV), is launching a project to increase awareness and sales of  B.C. bred sporthorses.

Three programs promoting healthy eating and access to local fruit and vegetables for lower-income families, seniors and young students are receiving a combined $3 million to continue their successful programs.
