The Province is contributing to a regional Metro Vancouver bid to play host to Amazon’s second headquarters, Amazon HQ2, which could generate US$5 billion in investment and create up to 50,000 jobs in B.C., announced Premier John Horgan at the UBCM convention today.

Motorists are advised to expect further delays around the Sexsmith Road intersection in Kelowna from Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. to Monday, Oct. 2 at 6 a.m. as the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure works towards the completion of widening Highway 97 to six lanes, from Highway 33 to Edwards Road.

The travelling public is advised that the Bailey Bridge which crosses the Nicomekl River on King George Boulevard has been temporarily closed to traffic for necessary repair work.

Motorists using 72nd Avenue at Highway 91 are advised of upcoming nighttime lane closures starting Monday.

Kamloops motorists are advised that the Red Bridge on Mt. Paul Way in Kamloops will be a closed to vehicle traffic for approximately one hour on Friday, Sept. 22, beginning between 11 a.m. and noon, during the Upper Nicola Indian Band’s Calling Our Spirits Back Healing Walk.

Motorists are advised to expect delays along Highway 97 in Kelowna as crews start construction on the Sexsmith Road intersection, as part of the six-laning project through Kelowna from Highway 33 to Edwards Road.

A contract valued at $1.98 million has been awarded for work to improve the reliability of Highway 37 north of Bell 2 Lodge.

Motorists are advised that as part of the six-laning project through Kelowna from Highway 33 to Edwards Road, the highway on-ramp by Auction World off Sexsmith Road and Old Vernon Road will be closed permanently to traffic, effective Thursday night, Sept. 14, 2017.

On Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be posting a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) on BC Bid inviting proponents to pre-qualify on the first three highway maintenance service-area contracts coming up for renewal.
