Premier David Eby has issued the following statement marking the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Air Disasters:

Beginning Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, emergency operation centres (EOCs) will be reactivated in health authorities to ensure patients continue to have access to the hospital care services they need as respiratory illness season continues in B.C.

Thousands of people in British Columbia will benefit from BC PharmaCare’s expanded coverage of medications used to treat Type 2 diabetes, heart failure and blood clots.

The Home Owner Grant will continue to cover 92% of residential properties in B.C. with the threshold set at $2.125 million for 2023.

Farm workers and producers are reminded that the minimum wage for agricultural piece rates will increase by 2.8% on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023.

With snow and freezing rain in the forecast, which may cause dangerous road conditions, travel advisories are in place for many areas of B.C., including the Fraser Valley and mid- and south Vancouver Island from Thursday, Dec. 22 until Saturday, Dec. 24. 

Drivers are asked to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary from tonight through Saturday afternoon, as Environment Canada is warning that snowfall, switching to freezing rain and rain, is expected to create adverse driving conditions throughout the south coast, including the Fraser Valley.
