Seven remote First Nations in B.C. are getting support from the Province to launch clean-energy projects focused on lowering emissions, helping to save energy costs and protecting the environment.

Thirty-five First Nations throughout B.C. are receiving $9.8 million in federal and provincial funding to develop clean-energy projects that will help them meet their energy needs efficiently and sustainably, while creating more jobs for people in their communities.

The Province will implement a backstop to the federal cap on emissions from the oil and gas sector to support a clean-energy future for British Columbians.

New advanced chemical processes being developed and refined in British Columbia will give the mining industry a way to extract critical minerals with almost no net environmental impact, helping advance B.C.’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

With support from the Province, a B.C. clean-technology company is making a dent in the cost of heating and cooling buildings, cars and marine vessels with a new smart-window technology that automatically tints, based on what the sun is doing.  

Two Lower Mainland companies are helping B.C. transition to a clean-energy future by advancing the use of hydrogen technology, creating jobs and supporting B.C.’s Hydrogen Strategy.

Fifteen building projects have been selected in the design incentive portion of the Better Buildings BC contest, a provincial program and juried competition to support, promote and celebrate the design and construction of net-zero energy-ready buildings.
