Katrine Conroy, Minister of Forests; Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation; and George Chow, Minister of State for Trade, have issued the following joint statement in response to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s final determination in its third administrative review regarding countervailing and anti-dumping duties applied to Canada’s softwood lumber exports to the United States:

The Province is immediately providing a $1-million grant to support the Village of Lytton in its economic recovery from the devastation caused by this year’s wildfire.

People living in rural communities throughout the province will soon benefit from B.C. government grants that will support new jobs and economic opportunities to help them recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

Premier John Horgan has appointed Ravi Kahlon, Parliamentary Secretary for Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, to lead the expansion and use of mass timber in B.C. buildings.

The provincial government is accepting public input in shaping an Interior forest sector that will innovate, create jobs and support communities for generations to come.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing $978,082 for seven projects in the Peace region.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing $502,734 for nine projects in the Sea to Sky corridor.
