The governments of K’ómoks First Nation (KFN), British Columbia and Canada have signed a new agreement that will advance reconciliation and treaty negotiations.

The BC Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) will continue development and implementation of its economic development strategy, supported by $2.24 million in provincial funding over the next two years.

More than 65 years after their lands were flooded to make way for the creation of the Nechako Reservoir, the Cheslatta Carrier Nation have signed agreements with the Province of British Columbia that provide restitution and redress for impacts suffered by their community and their peoples.

Seven Secwepemc communities and the Province have committed to collaborating on a long-term reconciliation agreement focused on implementing inherent rights, improving community well-being and advancing government-to-government relationships.

The Homalco First Nation is implementing a community energy plan to promote efficient energy consumption and savings, supported by a $140,000 equity investment from the Province.

The Tsilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is moving ahead with the redevelopment of an industrial site into a solar farm, supported by a $300,000 equity investment from the Province.

The Government of British Columbia and Blueberry River First Nations have agreed to further adjourn pending litigation until April 29, 2019, to allow for continued collaboration on addressing the effects of resource development in Blueberry River territory. 

The Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw, the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia have reached a major milestone in B.C. treaty negotiations with the signing of an Agreement-in-Principle.
