A new progress report confirms people in B.C. are already getting better access to mental health and substance use services, achieved through government’s 10-year plan, A Pathway to Hope.

Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, has released the following statement for World Suicide Prevention Day, Friday, Sept. 10, 2021:

Faculty and staff at B.C.’s colleges and universities have a new tool to support students facing mental health crises on campus.

As post-secondary students return to campus and as toxic drugs continue circulating in every part of B.C., it is vital that students have the resources they need to make informed decisions and stay safer.

Student and staff mental health is an important focus as a new school year begins next week.

British Columbians living with brain injuries will have increased access to vital services as the Government of B.C. provides $2 million to the Brain Injury Alliance to support community brain-injury associations throughout the province.

People and communities throughout B.C. will have the on-the-ground support they need to respond to the overdose crisis and help save lives, with the addition of two new community action teams (CATs) and additional support for existing teams.
