Looking for a career change? British Columbia is working to make a career in a skilled trade an easy choice in 2016.

Public post-secondary institutions in British Columbia have saved a total of more than $40 million over two years through the Administrative Service Delivery Transformation (ASDT) initiative.

While growing up, Sik-e-dakh (Glen Vowell Band) member Kateleen Prevost didn’t like to cook and that made her the oddball in a family where everyone liked to be in the kitchen. One day she said, “I’m going to learn how to cook, you guys, and show you how it’s done.”

A survey of over 9,200 international post-secondary students confirms that students are overwhelmingly satisfied with their education experience at British Columbia post-secondary institutions.

British Columbia has many good reasons to celebrate International Education week, including the 114,600 international students who choose to study in the province each year.

Gurpreet Kaur was living in her home district of Tarn Taran in India when she realized that she wanted to do something different from her current work as a nurse-midwife. A quick search on Google brought her information on Selkirk College in Castlegar and the college’s two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Gerontological Nursing.

Chris Walkus wasn’t sure he could be successful in the North Island College’s Employment Transition and Construction Labourer program saying, “I had low self-esteem.”

Government announced approval for new trades training facilities at the Silver King Campus of Selkirk College that will support students pursuing in-demand careers in a range of sectors that support a strong, diverse and growing economy.
