Applications are now being accepted for several project assistance funding programs offered by the BC Arts Council.

Amendments to the Auditor General for Local Government Act that will strengthen governance and accountability were introduced by Peter Fassbender, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

The Province of B.C. has announced the three communities chosen to host the 55+ BC Games in 2017 through to 2019. These cities were successful in their bids following a process conducted by the BC Senior Games Society that determined the winners from a total of six submissions.

The Small Communities Fund will accept applications for $90 million in support for infrastructure before the end of this year, Premier Christy Clark announced at the Union of British Columbia Municipalities annual convention.

BreakOut West 2015 , a combined music festival, conference and awards show presented by the Western Canadian Music Alliance (WCMA), opens in Victoria (Sept. 17-20), attracting diverse Canadian musicians, as well as industry leaders from across North America and Europe.

The Union of BC Municipalities annual convention was held in Vancouver, B.C. September 21-25 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. More than 1,800 delegates attended the annual event that included workshops, clinics, resolution and debates, as well as speeches from the Premier, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

The B.C. Government is providing $400,000 to KidSport BC in order to help children and teens play sports.
