Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, has issued the following statement in response to news that Greyhound Canada is discontinuing intercity bus service in British Columbia, and much of Canada:

Installation begins this week on two variable speed limit systems for the Fraser Valley, to help reduce crashes and keep people and goods moving safely and efficiently.

The Harris Road/Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) intersection in Pitt Meadows will be made safer, with a longer right turn lane for eastbound motorists.

People travelling on Highway 19A in Nanaimo will soon experience an easier drive, as a portion of the route will be resurfaced in summer 2018.

People travelling near Chilliwack and Hope, along Highway 1, soon will enjoy an easier drive with 42 kilometres of resurfacing work starting next week.

Residents and visitors to the Cariboo will experience better safety and traffic flow with changes to a key intersection on Highway 97, as a result of the now-finalized Quesnel Transportation Study.

Drivers are advised to expect periodic delays on Highway 3, starting this week, while the existing bridge in Hedley is replaced with a new, two-lane structure.

Drivers are advised that the intersection of Old Vernon Road and Acland Road will be closed, day and night, from Monday, July 2 at 8 p.m., to Friday, July 13, at 6 a.m.
