British Columbia has delivered on its promise to eliminate the aviation fuel tax for international flights, reducing costs for airlines, creating jobs, giving travellers more choice and supporting the 'Canada Starts Here - The BC Jobs Plan' goal of expanding markets. The change is effective April 1.

A new layer of protection is now in place for sled dogs in British Columbia. The Province, sled dog industry, veterinarians, and the BC SCPA have jointly created Canada's first Sled Dog Code of Practice, and sled dog standards of care regulation to enhance the health and welfare of all sled dogs in B.C.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on February 10, the yellow construction gantry (truss) used to install precast deck sections on the north approach of the new Port Mann Bridge experienced a malfunction and is leaning south, toward the cable-stay section of the bridge.

Work will begin this week on the final phase of repairs to the Westside Road Interchange retaining walls. Ledcor, the contractor for the Westside Road Interchange project, is starting the process to attach the finishing panels, and anticipates repairs will be complete by mid-March.

R.F. Binnie and Associates took the top award for construction management and supervision services at the 8th annual Deputy Minister's Consulting Engineers Awards, for work on the John Hart-Highway 97, Bennett Creek to Link Creek project.

CWMM Consulting Engineers Ltd. took the top award for design and contract preparation of structures at the 8th annual Deputy Minister's Consulting Engineers Awards, for its work on the Akokli Bridge Replacement project.
