In a move aimed at removing a major source of air pollution and climate change, the provincial government has put British Columbia on a path to require the sale of all new light-duty cars and trucks to be zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by the year 2040.

Legislation introduced Nov. 19, 2018, by the provincial government will allow ride-hailing companies to enter the B.C. market next year, while putting priority on safety for passengers.

The British Columbia government is lowering speed limits on 15 sections of highway in the province to keep people safer and reduce the chance of speed-related collisions.

Choke points for people travelling across the Fraser River will be significantly reduced with the next round of work starting on the Alex Fraser Bridge and the completion of the new interchange at Highway 91 and 72nd Avenue.

B.C. Premier John Horgan and Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee met today for a bilateral meeting and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to act jointly to grow the region’s innovation economy, protect the environment and combat climate change, promote trade and improve transportation connectivity.

Construction is underway to expand Mt. Lehman Road to accommodate the rising number of people travelling by car, bicycle and foot on this key regional route.
