Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena has issued the following statement on the appointment of Catherine Holt as the new BC Transit board chair, and Wendal Milne as a new director, beginning in December 2017:

The Dry Gulch Bridge on the Coquihalla Highway is fully reopened to all lanes of traffic now that important rehabilitation work is substantially complete, extending the life of the structure and providing safer conditions for people who travel through the region.

Significant progress is being made to manage invasive plant species in the Thompson-Nicola region, as part of a $2.2-million pilot project that began this spring and will continue into 2020.

New traffic signals are in place on Highway 16 at Bear Road and Kimball Road, making the intersection safer and more efficient for motorists.

People who drive or cycle along the Sea to Sky Highway will experience a safer, more efficient ride, thanks to a number of important safety upgrades made in 2017.

Work has completed on a safety improvement project at the Highway 97 and 254 Road intersection.

Construction of a new two-kilometre eastbound passing lane has been completed near Tyhee Lake on Highway 16, improving safety and efficiency for motorists.

New transit services will start running on Nov. 20, 2017, connecting the northern communities of Terrace with the Hazelton area, as part of the B.C. government’s Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan.

Rehabilitation will get underway soon on a wall that separates Highway 3 from the Canadian Pacific Railway at the south end of Moyie Lake, enhancing safety for the rail line, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

Motorists using 72nd Avenue at Highway 91 are advised of upcoming overnight lane closures.
