Teresa Wat, Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for  Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism, issued this statement:

Government introduced a new Discriminatory Provisions (Historical Wrongs) Repeal Act to permanently remove discriminatory provisions in historical private legislation.

Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism Teresa Wat issued the following statement as Ben Stewart announces his intent to leave the position as B.C.’s Special Representative in Asia:

British Columbia is celebrating Multiculturalism Week Nov. 13-19, 2016, a time to acknowledge the contributions of B.C.’s multicultural society and recognize the many ways diversity helps nurture inclusiveness, understanding and mutual respect, and connects communities throughout the province.

From May 23-31, 2016, Premier Christy Clark will lead a trade mission to South Korea, the Philippines and Japan. This will be Premier Clark’s third trade mission to South Korea and Japan and her second to the Philippines.

Fourteen organizations throughout the province are each receiving at least $10,000 and up to $50,000 to support the work they do to help stamp out racism in B.C.

The B.C. government is providing $300,000 through the Multiculturalism Grant program to support organizations whose activities promote British Columbia’s rich multicultural heritage, and nurture empathy and inclusion.

Racism comes in many forms. And so do the ways to address it.
