The B.C. government has posted a Notice of Position to seek applications from prospective candidates for the new Destination BC board of directors.

There will be nine new directors appointed to the board. A minority (four of nine directors) may have current involvement, including investments in, the tourism and/or hospitality sectors. The majority (five of nine directors) may not have current involvement or investments in the tourism and/or hospitality sectors.

Pat Bell, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour will provide a slate of up to three potential board members for each director position to tourism stakeholders, and those stakeholders will recommend to government which of the candidates they believe should serve as directors. The B.C. government will make the final appointments.

Board members may serve a term of up to three years with a possible renewal of one additional term of up to three years, for a maximum of six years. Lengths of terms will be set to ensure optimal succession planning and staggering of appointments.

The chair and board will be remunerated in a manner consistent with the remuneration of other Crown corporations of government. Remuneration levels for Destination BC have not yet been established.

Interested applicants may submit an Expression of Interest in serving Destination BC as a director online by going to the Board Resourcing and Development Office website: www.gov.bc.ca/brdo and linking to the page "How to Apply". Expressions of Interest should be submitted by Nov. 23, 2012.
