The Maa-nulth First Nations Final Agreement Implementation Report / 2011-2012 is now available, providing information on the implementation of British Columbia's first multi-nation treaty.
The report covers the activities of the treaty implementation committee, and other matters, including lands and resources, governance, legislation, programs and services.
The Maa-nulth First Nations treaty legally took effect on April 1, 2011, establishing certainty with respect to Aboriginal rights and title and providing economic benefits to the five signatories - Huu-ay-aht First Nations, Ka:'yu:'k't'h'/Che:k'tles7et'h' First Nations, Toquaht Nation, Uchucklesaht Tribe, and Yu?lu?il?ath?, formerly Ucluelet First Nation.
As well as being the first multi-nation treaty in B.C., the Maa-nulth treaty is also the first modern-day treaty on Vancouver Island.
Four treaties have been fully ratified in B.C. - the Tsawwassen First Nation Treaty, the Maa-nulth First Nations Treaty, the Yale First Nation Treaty and the Nisga'a Nation Treaty.
