Drivers are advised to expect short delays on Westside Road, from La Casa to Muir Road, as construction begins next week on this safety improvement in West Kelowna.
Initial clearing work will start on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, resulting in single-lane alternating traffic, and periodic delays of up to 10 minutes. Additional slow-downs and short closures will occur throughout the project, which is expected to be completed this December.
The project will include 1.3 kilometres of lane widening and straightening to improve sight lines and visibility, installation of guardrails to reduce the potential for vehicles leaving the highway, and a paved shoulder, to create more room for cyclists and pedestrians.
Construction will take place about 30 kilometres north of the Highway 97 intersection.
The ministry appreciates your patience while construction is taking place, and would like to remind drivers to obey traffic control when travelling through the work area.
During the Westside Road improvement project, drivers can check DriveBC.ca for updates, or call a toll-free recorded phone line for delays and closures, at 1 844 371-3824.
