Michelle Mungall, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness, has issued the following statement in response to Canada’s ratification of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA):
“I am pleased to see that Canada has ratified the CUSMA, so B.C. and the rest of our country will maintain reliable rules for conducting trade and retain preferential market access with improved labour and environment provisions.
“At a time when British Columbians are concerned about the spread of COVID-19 and the resulting economic impacts, the ratification of CUSMA is important for our key trading relationships.
“With this agreement, B.C.’s supply chains remain intact and the independent dispute resolution system is preserved.
“We are grateful to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and her team for their dedicated efforts to negotiate a fair deal for Canadians.”
