British Columbia’s deputy chief forester has determined the allowable annual cut (AAC) level for Tree Farm Licence 41 (TFL) south of Terrace will remain at 128,000 cubic metres. 

A grant of $443,400 from the Forest Enhancement Society of BC to the Terrace Community Forest (TCF) is helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and use wood fibre that would otherwise be burned.

The Province is closing recreational angling in Lost Lake to prevent the spread of goldfish, a non-native species.

The public is advised that the Exstew River recreation site, located 42 kilometres west of Terrace on Highway 16, will be closed to recreational users between Tuesday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

With the recent number of storms, high water and flood events in many areas of the Coast Mountains Natural Resource District, members of the public are reminded to use caution when driving on backcountry and forest service roads.

The Wildfire Management Branch is responding to a 1.5-hectare wildfire near the southern end of Lakelse Lake, about 19 kilometres southwest of Terrace. The fire was sparked by lightning.

The Wildfire Management Branch is urging the public in Terrace, Kitimat and surrounding areas to use caution when participating in recreational activities in the backcountry or using any open flame.
