The B.C. government and the Tŝilhqot’in Nation will work together to ensure a sustainable moose population and harvest in the Tŝilhqot’in territory (Chilcotin) through an agreement signed Sept. 28, 2018.

Former employees and special guests celebrated the 60th anniversary of the ministry’s Tree Seed Centre, during National Forest Week.

As a result of the efforts of firefighting crews and recent favourable weather conditions, all of the Syringa Complex wildfires are now classified as “under control,” which indicates the fires have received enough suppression to ensure they will not spread further.

BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a supporter of National Forest Week, which takes place from Sept. 23-29 this year.

The BC Wildfire Service, in partnership with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, is planning to conduct a 63-hectare prescribed burn approximately seven kilometres north of Midway in the Centre Hill/Ingram Creek area.  

The BC Wildfire Service has amended an area restriction order that is in effect for the Syringa Complex wildfires in the Southeast Fire Centre.

All area restriction orders that were in effect in the Prince George Fire Centre have been rescinded.

Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, has issued the following statement in recognition of National Forest Week, Sept. 23 to 29, 2018:

Effective at noon on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, Category 3 open fires will again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction due to weather conditions and a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

The 100 Mile Nordic Ski Society will be able to make upgrades to existing ski trails, thanks to a $388,375 grant from the Province.
