The eighth annual Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria bike ride will take place on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, from approximately 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Three new sets of bus pullouts are now complete along Highway 14, as part of a number of improvements to boost safety, reduce congestion and keep people moving along the corridor. 

The public is invited to attend a public open house in Sooke about proposed improvements and plans for the Highway 14 corridor between Langford and Port Renfrew.

Construction crews will begin building a new two-lane bridge next week on Gillespie Road at Roche Cove, which is an important alternative route to Highway 14 during closures.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will upgrade approximately two kilometres of Otter Point Road, which is a key access point for Highway 14, and an important alternative route when the highway is closed.

The annual Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria bike ride takes place on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, from approximately 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an anticipated 1,500 cyclists riding through Victoria, the West Shore and the Saanich Peninsula.

Over the May long weekend, access to the parking lot at Sombrio Beach will be temporarily restricted for safety measures, as in previous years, to discourage illegal activities such as parties and vandalism.

The Province has committed to improving safety at the Parkland, Gillespie and Connie road intersections on Highway 14 between Langford and Sooke.
