Multiculturalism Minister Teresa Wat issued the following statement today.

The B.C. government's efforts to boost trade and investment with Asian markets is paying off, as B.C. businesses continue to make valuable connections with overseas governments and businesses.

Canada and the EU acknowledged the successful conclusion of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) on Sept. 26, 2014, at a joint summit and B.C. businesses and industry associations are upbeat about what the deal will mean for them.

As part of the implementation of the recommendations outlined in the Final Report on the Chinese Historical Wrongs Consultation, the B.C. Government has posted draft project plans for legacy initiatives on the EmbraceBC web site.

In May 2014, a formal apology was delivered on behalf of all members of the B.C. legislative assembly to Chinese Canadians for historical wrongs committed by past provincial governments.

Today 100 plaques - including 14 in B.C. - are being unveiled across Canada to mark the 100th anniversary of the federal War Measures Act.
