A new elementary school, two additions to existing schools and the land needed to build another school, will help ease overcrowding and improve classroom conditions for students in Surrey, Premier John Horgan announced today.

Nominations open today for the new Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education, an opportunity to recognize the enormous contributions of education professionals who go above and beyond to make life better for students in British Columbia.

Since 1986, British Columbia has joined other provinces in proclaiming Education Week to recognize and celebrate the important work happening in our schools. This year, Education Week takes place from April 23-27.

British Columbia’s education mission has signed new agreements that will help get more French-speaking teachers into B.C.’s classrooms and give more B.C. kids the opportunity to participate in French programs.
